Issues Of Faith

What the Danish press published was inexcusable, intolerable and most importantly disrespectful to the Muslim community, Prophet Muhammad and to the Islamic faith. Yes, maybe it's considered as freedom of speech, but everything has its limits.

For those of you who are lost, recently the Danish press published caricatures of Prophet Muhammad. For years drawings or portraits of the prophet is prohibited. This is because we do not know what the prophet really looked like.

What was most offensive about the comic strip is it depicts him (the prophet) endorsing terrorism. This is ABSOLUTELY untrue! If anything, the prophet has always been pro-peace!

I watched the news the other day and i saw Muslims from many parts of the world protesting against the Danish press. I saw them destroying an embassy, burning the Danish flag, shouting and screaming. I was moved by how pained they were and how much they wanted justice. Then, for a brief while a thought crawled into my mind..Do these people who protested, who burned flags, who destroyed an embassy, who shouted the Prophet's name and Allah's name in vain,..do they even fulfill the fundamental teachings of Islam? Do they pray 5 times a day? Do they fast in the month of Ramadhan? Do they help the needy? Do they stay away from alcohol?......

Are they practicing Muslims?

To tell you the truth, i dont know.

It seems as though we Muslims are sabotaging our own beliefs. Suicide bombings, hijacking planes, crashing planes to tall buildings, killing innocents. It's no wonder some non-muslims label Muslims as extremists. It's sad to think that the disease is amongst us. Within ourselves. I guess like any other community, there are the good and the bad. In this case, there are the good Muslims and the misconstrued Muslims.

This is getting too emotional and political for me.

Dear Muslims all around the world, let's strengthen our faith in Allah, and together let's eradicate the cancer that's within ourselves.

Why do we unfailingly destroy the things we love?
